Sensor Placement + Optimization Software v.4.2

Version 4.2 released -- This version will run smoothly and completely with Excel versions 2007 and 2010, and Windows XP, Windows 7 (32bit), and Windows 7 (64bit) are the tested platforms.

Version 4.2 released July 2010 with support from Energy Design Resources through Southern California Edison.

SPOT™ is intended to assist a designer in quantifying the existing or intended electric lighting and annual daylighting characteristics of a given space and to help establish the optimal photosensor placement for the space relative to annual performance and annual energy savings.

The software was developed with classroom daylighting in mind, but can be used for all types of spaces. SPOT™ handles top and side daylight sources and can model any electric lighting source.The software uses a Microsoft® Excel platform with a RADIANCE engine and is available at no cost.

The SPOT™ software was developed by Architectural Energy Corporation with support from the following organizations.

• The initial version of the software was released in 2005 with support from the California Energy Commission PIER Lighting Research Program (LRP).
• The v3.0 release in 2006 was made possible by funding from Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.
• The v3.1 release in early 2007 was made possible with support from the Energy Design Resources through Pacific Gas & Electric Company.
• Further enhancements and training for the software were completed spring 2007 with support from the California Energy Commission PIER Program through the California Institute for Energy and Environment.
