Founded in 1982, Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC) is a leading energy engineering and sustainable design consulting firm, providing our clients with peak building performance over the life of their facilities.
AEC provides a full suite of Sustainable Building Services including sustainable design consulting for new construction and renovation and architectural/engineering services for sustainable energy management for both supply and demand side energy in new and existing buildings. Our portfolio of services includes energy and daylighting analysis, sustainable design consulting, LEED® certification consulting, commissioning, measurement and verification, energy auditing, design and construction services and retro-commissioning. Building owners, architects, and engineers rely on AEC’s expertise in the sustainable design, commissioning, and operation of functional, healthy, and environmentally responsive buildings. AEC’s experience encompasses a wide range of building types including offices, restaurants, retail stores, universities, museums, healthcare, laboratories, K-12 schools, airport terminals, industrial facilities, residential buildings, and mixed-use projects.
AEC’s Sustainable Building Programs division offers energy program development and management to a wide range of utility, government, industry, and institutional clients. AEC's Codes & Standards division provides expertise in the development, documentation, and implementation of energy codes and standards for energy commissions, technical associations, government agencies and utilities. AEC is committed to increasing building energy efficiency and advancing the field toward zero net energy goals through code generation, education, implementation, and enforcement.
AEC's Products division has a long history of developing cutting-edge products for understanding and enhancing building performance. AEC’s current software products include REM/Design™ and REM/Rate™ for residential energy analysis and home energy rating. REM/Rate™ (RESNET® Accredited) is the most widely used home energy rating software in the US.
AEC is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado with additional locations in San Francisco; Nashville, TN; Fairfax, VA; and Springfield, MO.
In 2008 United Technologies Corporation (UTC) acquired Architectural Energy Corporation. Through our affiliation with other members of the UTC family of companies, such as NORESCO and Dome-Tech, AEC maintains the capability to meet a variety of customer needs beyond our core service offerings. These include energy savings performance contracting, turnkey central plant implementation, plant operation, energy procurement and other services.
