The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS, pronounced "chips") is a 501©(3) non-profit organization managed by Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC), and is dedicated to facilitating the design, construction and operation of a new generation of high performance, green, healthy K-12 schools. CHPS has built its reputation and success on a robust technical program that includes the development and maintenance of a variety of technical resources for school designers and facility managers, including assessment tools and best practices. Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee will be a member of the CHPS Team and will perform duties under the CHPS Executive Director, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Provide technical consulting on green building strategies and technologies to school and design professionals.
- Oversee updates and additions to the CHPS Best Practices Manual for how to design, build and operate green schools.
- Develop regional and state adaptations of CHPS’ green building criteria for schools.
- Seek and cultivate new regional and state relationships.
- Identify and partner with key state stakeholders in school building and green building.
- Lead technical committees to develop state-specific criteria adaptations.
- Provide technical support during development of state-specific adaptations.
- Support school project registration and performance tracking for the CHPS Verified and CHPS Designed recognition programs.
- Contribute to the vision of the evolution of CHPS’ technical resources.
- Develop educational training materials on green school guidelines.
Requirements:
- An undergraduate four-year college degree with background in engineering, architecture, design, building sciences or other related fields.
- A minimum of one to four years of experience in managing and/or coordinating similar efforts as described under duties and responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of and experience with green building/sustainable practices
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Superb communication skills – oral, written, and presentation
- Ability to coordinate a diverse group of stakeholders both in-person and remotely.
- Commitment to the CHPS mission.
- Willingness to participate in diverse roles in a non-profit setting.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in any of the above requirements with a focus on schools or school construction.
- Successful work on CHPS or LEED® projects.
- Experience with website maintenance, using programs including Dreamweaver, CMS or HTML.
