Commissioning Engineer - Boulder, Colorado

Seeking full-time engineer to join professional commissioning team at our Corporate Headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. Individual should have:
- background in mechanical or electrical design and construction as it relates to HVAC mechanical systems
- understanding of commercial lighting controls and technologies
- three to five years of experience related to commercial HVAC design and construction process
- degree of higher education in engineering field
- be able to travel out of state occasionally
- ability to troubleshoot HVAC system problems related to test and balance, controls, mechanical and electrical
- good typing and documentation skills along with spreadsheet use
- ability to perform quick energy analysis related to building commissioning solutions
- strong presentation skills with ability to speak with confidence to contractors, architects and engineers
The following areas are recommended, and not required:
- licensed as a Professional Engineer
- background of at least two years of HVAC commissioning with project management experience
- understanding of the LEED rating system and its impact on the commissioning process
- ability to run HVAC modeling programs such as Equest or DOE2
- understanding of renewable energy technologies and sustainable design as applied to commercial construction
Job Description
Employee will be a member of the commissioning team and will perform duties as required by the commissioning team leader. Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- performing design reviews of mechanical and electrical plans and specifications
- meeting with clients and discussing energy efficient solutions to mechanical and lighting designs
- creating start-up checklists for mechanical contractors
- hold construction meetings with contractors to explain the commissioning process
- creating functional performance tests and orchestrating the tests with contractors
- being able to manage and schedule a project in its entirety including report writing and jobsite observations and field testing
- travel to in-state and out-of-state projects as required
