Commissioning Engineer - San Francisco, California (SF #2)

General Characteristics:
Full-time employment in professional commissioning team. Employee will be a lead member of the building commissioning team and will perform duties as required by the commissioning team leader, and eventually become self-sufficient in managing commissioning projects. This position is located in San Francisco, California.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Support commissioning services on multiple projects at one time
  • Participate in design reviews of mechanical and electrical plans and specifications
  • Create start-up checklists for mechanical contractors
  • Create functional performance tests and orchestrate the tests with contractors
  • Perform jobsite observations and field testing
  • Write commissioning reports
  • Travel to in-state and out-of-state projects as required

Education:
Degree of higher education in engineering field.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
A candidate for this position must have the following skills:

  • One to three years experience in HVAC design, energy efficiency consulting, or similar field
  • Understanding of commercial HVAC design and construction process
  • Ability to perform quick energy analysis related to building commissioning solutions
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to speak with confidence to contractors, architects and engineers.
  • Good typing and documentation skills along with spreadsheet use
  • Ability to travel out of state occasionally
  • Ability to perform quick energy analysis related to building commissioning solutions

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
The following skills are desired for this position:

  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer
  • Building commissioning experience
  • HVAC and/or control system design experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot HVAC system problems related to test and balance, controls, mechanical and electrical
  • Understanding of the LEED rating system and its impact on the commissioning process
  • Ability to run HVAC modeling programs such as Equest or DOE2
  • Understanding of renewable energy technologies and sustainable design as applied to commercial construction
  • Understanding of commercial lighting controls and technologies
  • Understanding of daylighting design and analysis
