			<title>AEC's Popular REM/Rate Home Energy Rating Software Accredited by RESNET as IECC Performance Path Verification Tool</title>

				Architectural Energy Corporation's REM software has been accredited by the Residential Energy Services
Network (RESNET) as a performance path compliance tool for the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). Both the REM/Rate home energy rating software and the REM/Design home energy analysis software have earned the accreditation. The accreditation will help build confidence among code officials that these widely used software programs are faithfully and accurately implementing the performance-based compliance rules of the IECC.

				Xcel Energy has selected Architectural Energy Corporation of Boulder to lead its existing Colorado Energy Design Assistance custom consulting program.  The Energy Design Assistance (EDA) program provides energy design and analysis services, through Architectural Energy Corporation, free-of-charge to Xcel Energy commercial and industrial electricity customers that meet certain eligibility requirements.  Additionally, Xcel Energy commercial customers may receive a financial incentive to reduce the cost of installing energy efficiency measures into their proposed building designs.

			<title>AEC Goes Platinum</title>

				AEC has enjoyed coordinating LEED Certification for the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences, which recently achieved a Platinum rating under LEED-NC v2.1.  In addition to LEED Certification services, AEC is currently working on commissioning the building.  The Tahoe Center, a joint venture between Sierra Nevada College and UC Davis, is a 45,000 sqft lab and classroom facility on Sierra Nevada College's Lake Tahoe Campus.  The project boasts a 58% reduction in energy cost when compared to a code compliant building, innovative HVAC system.

			<title>Zack Rogers Speaking at the Velux 2nd Daylight Symposium in Spain</title>

				Daylighting Group team leader, Zack Rogers, was invited to take part in the Velux 2nd Daylight Symposium at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain on May 6th - 7th.  The symposium will focus on post occupancy evaluation of daylit buildings and the current state of daylighting research and design, primarily for schools.  As part of the program, Mr. Rogers will give an overview of current daylighting design tools and their applicability to the various design stages.

				In April 2007, the California Energy Commission announced a $2.5 million award to AEC and its project team for Compliance, Enforcement and Outreach Support for Efficiency Programs. The three-year program will address the need for timely training to increase compliance with existing Building Energy Efficiency Standards, and provide training to selected market participants to encourage energy efficiency upgrades whenever existing homes are sold and to promote increased energy efficiency in new homes that add solar generation.

				The Kinard Core Knowledge Junior High School project was recently awarded the Building of America honor as one of the 50 best new construction projects within the Colorado region.  To maximize student academic performance, designers integrated daylighting, using the LightLouver Daylighting System, into all classrooms. In the two years since the school opened its doors, the school has won multiple design awards, including the Fort Collins Urban Design Award for Green Design, 2006, and CEFPI Rocky Mountain Chapter Peak Design Award.

				Architectural Energy Corporation has teamed with the California Department of General Services to create a set of tools to facilitate commissioning of new State buildings smaller than 10,000 sq/ft. This "toolkit" contains templates for documents such as a commissioning plan, owner's project requirements, and basis of design. Also included are test procedures for simple equipment such as packaged rooftop air conditioners and lighting occupancy sensors. The procedures are developed to allow State personnel to perform all commissioning tasks.
