P4. Extending
BACnet for Lighting Control and Interfacing Building
Systems with Utilities > Approach
Objectives:
- To develop enhancements to ASHRAE Standard 135 (BACnet) to support lighting
control services.
- To develop enhancements to the BACnet standard to support communications
between a building and the utility.
Approach:

Establish a liaison relationship between ASHRAE SSPC 135 and key representatives
of the lighting control industry, as well as utility industry. Working groups would be created to explore how the BACnet standard should be amended to accommodate lighting controls and utility/building control interactions. The target was to identify data exchanges that would most likely be commercially viable in by 2005.
