At present there are eight manufacturers producing electronic ballasts for HID lamps. Samples of the wattages available from each manufacturer will be obtained and evaluated.

The product has only recently been developed, hence there is no baseline market share for this product. The product is designed for application in commercial spaces now using other less efficient sources, industrial applications and outdoor lighting. In California this represents an opportunity to impact over 15 million existing luminaires.
