Project 5.4 DALI Lighting Control Device Standard Development - Baseline Conditions

The DALI protocol uses about half of the available information for ballast commands, but does not provide any standard command structure for peripheral control devices. Therefore, multiple control device manufacturers cannot be used on the same DALI bus.

In addition, there are no standard commands for control devices from a single manufacturer to communicate with each other. This means that a photosensor or occupancy sensor cannot effectively communicate with the ballast, or each other.
