LRP Participants


With final approval from the State of California, the Lighting Research Program kicked off with a meeting for the lead participants in mid-November 2002. Since that time, research has progressed rapidly with input from a Program Advisory Committee and other Technical Advisory Groups.

This $5 million program involves a preeminent group of researchers, consultants, organizations and manufacturers. Key participants include the following:

The Lighting Research Program focuses on a variety of lighting areas, including the following highlights.

• Research and development of high performance LED alternatives to incandescent porch lights for residential and commercial applications.

Development of advanced lighting control systems with improved photosensor technology and integrated with occupancy sensors for classroom settings.

Research and development of an efficient hotel or institutional bathroom lighting system that may also provide night-lighting capability.

Development of a standard for DALI lighting control devices.

Various individuals are serving on the Program Advisory Committee for LRP. These individuals donate their time and provide valuable input to the management team and researchers.

Funding for the LRP is provided by the California Energy Commission (CEC) under the Public Interest Energy Research Program.
