MDL Sensor Information

Various MDL Sensor Specifications

Temperature -- Temperature sensors are interchangeable thermistors with a range of minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit [F] to 254 degrees F or -40 degrees Celsius [C] to 120 degrees C. Accuracy is plus/minus 0.5 degrees C. For temperatures of 0 degrees C to 70 degrees C, accuracy is plus/minus 0.2 degrees C. MicroDataLogger: Temperature Sensor Specifications [18kb PDF]

Relative Humidity (RH) -- Relative Humidity sensor measurement range is from 0 to 100 percent humidity. Accuracy at 20 degrees C is plus/minus 3 percent over the range of 10 percent to 90 percent RH. The RH sensors offer stability of plus/minus 2 percent typically for a two-year period. A replaceable sensor element is available for periodic calibration. Ambient Station -- Utilizes temperature and humidity sensors in a protective radiant station to measure ambient conditions. Ambient Station Picture [24kb image]

Air Flow (Differential Pressure) -- Capacitance-type pressure transducer for HVAC monitoring may be used for static or differential air pressure monitoring, or combined with a pitot tube for air velocity pressure measurements. Suitable for air or inert gases with an accuracy of plus/minus one percent of range. 5 V DC Module (VDC-19-3) is required for measurements.

Air/Water Pressure (Gage Pressure) -- Silicon strain pressure transducer, stainless steel construction for use with water or other compatible fluids. Accuracy is plus/minus 1 percent of range. 5 V DC Module (VDC-19-3) is required for measurements. Light Level/Status -- Sensor measures relative light levels, used as a status indicator in lighting studies. Self-powered photo cell enclosed in a white plastic case with a prismatic lens. Range is one full sun. Accuracy is plus/minus four percent of full scale. Light Sensor Picture [16kb image]

Occupancy -- Passive infrared motion detector designed for high reliability and low power. Detection range is 10.6 meters (35 foot) long by 18.3 meters (60 foot). MicroDataLogger: Occupancy Sensor Specifications [15kb PDF]

 Electric Current
AC Current Probes — Split Core - opening style (split core) current transducers (CTs) with internal burden resistor. Provides safe, 333 mV AC output proportional to current. Accuracy is plus/minus one percent from 10 to 100 percent of rated current. 333 mV RMS Module (VAC-17-3) is required for current measurements.

AC Current Probes — Clamp On - AC current probes with 333 mV full-scale outputs can be used in place of split-core current transducers. Clamp-on probes also use 333 mV RMS modules (VAC-17-3) for input to the MicroDataLogger® units. MicroDataLogger: Current Transducer Specifications [116kb PDF]

Electrical Power -- AC WattHour Transducers (WattNode™) use industry-standard 333 mV toroidal or split-core CTS with burden resistors for safe and easy installation. Accurate within .045 percent of reading plus .05 percent of full-scale excluding CT accuracy. Range is 0.1 percent to 150 percent of full scale. Accuracy is reduced at inputs greater than 100 percent. MicroDataLogger: Specifications for WattHour Transducers [24kb PDF]

Test lead sets are available for use with the WattHour Transducer: both delta and wye configurations. Pulse Counting Module (COUNT-80-3) is required for AC WattHour Transducer.

Voltage -- AC Potential Transformers (PTs) are used to measure voltage in 50/60 Hertz AC electrical systems. Precision step-down transformer provides electrical isolation and a safe 333 mV AC full-scale output signal proportional to the high voltage input. Accuracy is plus/minus one percent from 0 to 100 percent of rated voltage. 333 mV RMS Module (VAC-17-3) is required for voltage measurements. MicroDataLogger: Specifications for Potential Transformers [22kb PDF]

General Signal Measurement -- The following modules are available for general signal measurement: 20 mA DC current measurement, 5 v DC voltage measurement and 10 v DC voltage measurement module.

Other Sensors -- Other ranges and types of sensors may be ordered to meet your specific monitoring needs. Please contact us contact us [launch e-mail] regarding specific sensor information.
