REM Home Energy Analysis Software

[ Image: REM Banner Solid ]

The REM Software Series home energy analysis software is designed to help homebuilders, home designers, energy consultants, home improvement contractors, utilities, and home energy rating organizations with critical energy analysis for residential structures. AEC features two powerful evaluation tools in the series: REM/Rate and REM/Design.

REM/Rate

This user-friendly software is used by organizations which operate home energy rating systems (HERS). HERS rates the energy efficiency of homes for identifying cost-effective improvements and providing energy-efficient mortgages. Climate data are available for cities and towns throughout North America.

REM/Design

This user-friendly, yet sophisticated, software calculates heating, cooling, domestic hot water, lighting and appliance loads, consumption, and costs based on a description of the home's design and construction features as well as local climate and energy cost data. Additionally, REM/Design is DOE-approved for Weatherization Assistance Programs in all states.

Which one is right for you?

While REM/Rate and REM/Design are very similar and employ the same basic calculational method, there are some fundamental differences in the two programs.

REM/Rate produces a home energy rating report based on the RESNET National HERS Technical Standards, and has an export/archive file feature which allows HERS providers to maintain a historical database of ratings.

REM/Rate also includes a user defined reference home that allows HERS providers to customize the rating procedure.

While REM/Design is licensed to single users for unlimited use for a one-time fee, REM/Rate is licensed to HERS providers annually and includes a pay-per-rating fee.
