The EnvStd 4.0 software implements the Building Envelope Trade-off Option of ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-1999. With the EnvStd computer program, the performance of one envelope component (roof, wall, floor, slab or below-grade wall) can be improved to make up for another component that may not meet the Standard. Trade-offs can also be made with openings (windows, skylights, and doors). The method provides considerable design flexibility, compared to the prescriptive approach.
