Measurement & Verification Services for California Government Buildings

Project Summary
ENVEST Division of Southern California Edison
Rosemead, California

Project Type
Measurement & Verification

Size
76 government buildings encompassing over 4.2 million Square Feet

Project Details
Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC) provided Measurement & Verification services for Southern California Edison ENVEST, Edison’s in-house energy services operation. As part of the energy service contracts between ENVEST and various municipal and county governments in Southern California, AEC performed site inspections, interviews with facility management personnel and operations contractors, and short-term monitoring of selected sites. Monitored data were used to assess system performance, establish energy consumption, peak demand, demand diversity, annual full-load hours, and calculate verified energy savings. Data also were used to identify additional savings opportunities for future projects.

Project Highlights

6 government buildings inspected for measure retention.

Short-term monitoring performed on selected lighting and HVAC related energy conservation measures, satisfying Option B of the International Performance M&V Protocol. AEC’s patented ENFORMA® software and hardware system used for all data collection and analysis.

Pre- and post-retrofit monitored data analyzed to calculate annual consumption, demand, annual full-load hours, and verified savings.

Performance data suggested additional energy saving opportunities for future projects.

Results indicated that overall, 75% of lighting-related energy savings, and 88% of HVAC-related energy savings were being achieved.
