Academic Buildings

Mary Cofrin Hall
Mary Cofrin Hall is a sustainable design showcase for the Wisconsin Division of Facilities Development and the University of Wisconsin.
  Georgina Blach Intermediate School
AEC was hired to undertake a whole-building energy analysis and daylight studies using simulation and physical models to recommend energy saving measures, and to reduce energy consumption and costs, and to improve visual and thermal comfort.
Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management
One of the first twelve LEED Certified buildings, the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management is an 85,000 square foot, multi-use facility on the University of California, Santa Barbara campus.
  Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences
The Tahoe Center is based on "best practices" of energy and environmental (sustainable) design, and achieved its sustainable design goal of Platinum under the USGBC's LEED rating system.
ATLAS Center at the University of Colorado
The University of Colorado Student Union passed a capital funding fee in the fall of 2004 requiring that all new buildings on the campus achieve at minimum LEED Silver Certification.
  Center for Technology and Learning Media
A comprehensive building commissioning process was employed to ensure that all building systems achieved their design intent and met the owner’s expectations.

Office Buildings

Xilinx Development Center
The Xilinx Development Center in Longmont, Colorado houses the software development function of the Xilinx Corporation, an embedded logic chip manufacturer.
  Corporate Express World Headquarters
Designed to provide a comfortable, healthy and productive work environment for its corporate staff, the design also achieves high levels of energy efficient and environmental responsiveness.

Public Buildings

Landside Terminal — Denver International Airport
The Jeppeson Landside Terminal at the Denver International Airport is the fusion of architectural design, structural design, and energy efficiency.
  National Museum of the U.S. Marine Corps
In an effort to preserve and display the historical artifacts of the U.S. Marine Corps and inform the public about life as a Marine, a national design competition was held for the design of a Marine Corps Heritage Center.
Oakland International Airport — Terminal 2
AEC was hired to undertake a whole-building energy analysis to recommend energy saving measures.
  Boulder Public Library
The 40,000 square foot addition to the Boulder Public Library is an excellent example of the fusion of energy efficiency, daylighting, and architectural design.
North Boulder Recreation Center
The North Boulder Recreation Center expansion and renovation significantly increased the size of the existing facility and earned a LEED Silver Certification.
  Boulder County Recycling and Composting Center
The design successfully integrates recycled building materials, passive solar heating, daylighting, and sensitivity to site.
Missouri Historical Society
The addition to the Missouri Historical Society Museum in St. Louis, provides the increased space and services to meet the needs of the museum staff and visiting public, while presenting a modern example of energy and environmentally responsible architecture.
  The Denver Zoo Asian Tropics Exhibit
The Denver Zoo is adding a new Asian Tropics exhibit which will include habitats and management facilities for breeding pachyderms as well as exhibits for small mammal, bird, reptile and amphibian species.
Indianapolis International Airport
Located in the middle of the airport runways, the new terminal consists of a large Departure Hall, Security Halls, two concourses, Arrival Hall, and a large interior Civic Plaza.
  Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens Welcome Center
The Welcome Center contains a cafe, gift shop, coat check, ticket purchasing, restrooms and vertical circulation to the Conservatory, all organized around a central glazed atrium.

Laboratories

U.S. EPA Science and Technology Center
Laboratories use more energy and water on a square foot basis than most any other building type.
  NREL Science and Technology Facility
This state-of-the-art facility is designed to allow government and industry to work side-by-side to develop new manufacturing processes for photovoltaic cells, hydrogen fuel cells and other distributed energy technologies.

Health Care Facilities

Boulder Community Hospital
The first hospital in the nation to earn LEED Certification, Boulder Community Foothills Hospital's LEED Silver sets the standard for energy and environmentally responsive healthcare facility design.
