Radiance

Radiance is a highly accurate ray-tracing software capable of producing photo-realistic renderings, predicting illuminance values, establishing luminance maps and ratios, and estimating visual comfort probabilities. The program’s ability to accurately model diffuse, spectral as well as curved surfaces produces reliable and sophisticated engineering calculations accompanied by presentation quality renderings. AEC uses Radiance to analyze daylighting and electric lighting design alternatives and predict the aesthetic and visual performance of the proposed lighting designs.

Radiance is capable of modeling how daylight interacts with buildings, both inside and out throughout the day and year. Data such as interior illuminance and luminance levels as well as accurate analysis of direct light penetration are invaluable to successful daylighting design. Exterior shading studies show how and when shading occurs and accurately predicted interior light levels, external reflections, as well as solar heat gains. Finally, AEC uses Radiance to interact with DOE-2 modeling to determine the annual energy savings of daylight design alternatives.

Radiance Renderings

AEC expertise in Radiance makes it possible to produce presentation quality architectural renderings, daylighting animations and building fly-throughs. If interested contact Zack Rogers. [launch e-mail]
