Trace-Pro

TracePro is a comprehensive, versatile software tool for modeling the propagation of light. TracePro is a Monte Carlo ray tracing program that accounts for flux or light power in an optical system, as well as the irradiance or the distribution of light. By ray-tracing a daylighting model with TracePro, AEC is able to study the effects of scattering, diffraction, absorption, reflection and refraction.

AEC uses TracePro to model daylight delivery solutions in all stages of the design process. In the preliminary design stage, TracePro is a useful visual tool for determining the effectiveness of a proposed daylight solution. By running simulations for multiple sun angles throughout the year, shortcomings of the design can be identified quickly and easily. In addition, if multiple designs are being considered, TracePro can quantify the performance of all systems making comparisons more straightforward.
