| What
is the program objective? Sponsored by a collaborative effort
between Southern California Edison and the State of California, the
objective is to decrease the energy consumption of commercial buildings
in the Southern California Edison service territory by applying commissioning
techniques to tune-up the air-conditioning equipment in participating
buildings. Numerous studies have shown that commissioning can reduce
energy consumption up to 20 percent.
What is the
program and who provides the service? Administered by Southern
California Edison and delivered by private engineering organizations,
the program offers a no-cost
engineering study of the energy consuming equipment and provides
recommendations to improve the equipment operation through tune-up
activities. The engineering firms providing this service are Architectural
Energy Corporation, CTG
Energetics, and RLW
Analytics, Inc.
What do participants
receive? Participants in the program receive a report with recommendations
for HVAC system improvements that will decrease energy use, decrease
operating costs, and increase comfort. The recommendations are based
on a detailed engineering analysis that includes functional tests
of equipment, data collection with portable data loggers, data review,
and economic analysis of costs and savings.
